This reducer is the power transmission unit on the walking control drive of S1800-2 and S1600-2 asphalt pavers. Reference 2011672 identifies the unit on standard parts lists, and the assembly is interchangeable with 2259433, so a drive that has lost torque or started to leak can be brought back to specification without changing the surrounding mounting hardware.

The unit is built around a compact housing that fits the space available at the drive end of the chassis while still delivering the torque needed for steering and tracking corrections under load. Sealing is the other half of the job: dust, grit and wash water around the undercarriage are what kill gearboxes, so the housing uses sealed joints and a protected output shaft to keep contamination out of the oil.

Walking control demands short, precise movements at low speed and high torque. A worn reducer shows itself as sluggish tracking, drift in a straight line, or noise and heat at the drive end. Because the gearbox sits in the drive chain after the hydraulic motor, a failing unit also loads the motor and the brake, which is why an early swap is cheaper than running a noisy box until something else breaks.
