CAN Slope Meter 04-21-21010 / 80797525 Now Available for Asphalt Paver Leveling Systems

A new replacement CAN slope meter for asphalt paver screed leveling systems is now in stock, covering two of the most frequently requested part references in the paving aftermarket: 04-21-21010 and 80797525. The unit is a direct-fit alternative for contractors who need to restore automatic grade and cross-slope control on machines whose original sensor has failed, drifted or been damaged on site.

Slope meters are among the first components to degrade on a paver. Because the sensor sits close to the screed, it works in constant exposure to hot asphalt, vibration and cleaning water. Once the internal reference drifts, the machine begins to lay uneven mat thickness, and operators compensate manually, which slows the paving train and increases joint quality risk. Replacing the sensor restores the automatic loop and brings cross-slope back within specification.

One Part Number Covers Two References

Fleet managers rarely run a single paver model. Mixed fleets mean mixed part references, and a sensor that covers only one of them forces duplicated stock. This unit is built to serve both references:

  • 04-21-21010 and 80797525 are covered by a single SKU, reducing inventory lines for service vans and warehouses.
  • Identical mounting footprint and 7-pin CAN connector allow replacement during a short paving window.
  • Digital CAN output eliminates the analogue drift that affects older resistance-type meters.
  • Temperature-compensated sensing keeps the reading stable as the housing heats up beside fresh asphalt.
  • IP67 sealed die-cast housing resists dust, spray and wash-down between shifts.

How the Digital Loop Improves Mat Quality

The sensing element converts inclination into a digital angle value. A controller inside the housing linearises the signal, applies temperature compensation and transmits the result to the paver control unit over the CAN bus at a fixed refresh rate. Because the value travels digitally, cable length and connector contact resistance no longer influence accuracy, which is the main weakness of analogue slope meters on ageing machines.

The machine controller compares the measured slope with the target cross-slope set on the operator panel and issues a correction command to the screed lift cylinders. The loop closes continuously while paving, so mat thickness stays consistent even when the base course is uneven or the paving speed changes.

Installation and Calibration Notes

Replacement follows the same sequence as the original part. Remove the failed unit from the screed bracket and keep the existing harness and hardware. Seat the new sensor in the same orientation, tighten the fixings evenly so the housing is not distorted, then reconnect the 7-pin CAN plug until the lock tab engages.

After power-up, run the leveling system through its zero and slope calibration routine on a known level surface. Confirm that the displayed cross-slope follows the reference value without oscillation before production paving resumes. If the machine reports a communication fault, check the CAN termination resistor and plug pin condition first; the sensor is polarity protected and will not be damaged by a reversed supply.

Availability and Delivery

Units are tested before packing, wrapped in anti-static foam and shipped in export-grade cartons suitable for air and sea freight. Minimum order quantity is one piece, stock items are dispatched within 7 to 10 working days, and larger fleet orders are scheduled on confirmation. Payment terms include T/T, L/C and Western Union.

Contractors and spare parts distributors can request pricing, lead time and freight cost by sending machine model, quantity and destination port. Quotations are confirmed within the same working day, and technical support is available for calibration questions after delivery.
