Depth Indicator Sensor 106710 / 29637 Released for W130H and W100 Milling Machines
A new service-part listing is open for the 106710 / 29637 depth indicator sensor used on W130H and W100 road milling machines. The sensor is available from one piece at 1672 USD, with delivery in 7-10 days and monthly supply capacity of 1,000 pieces.

The sensor supplies the depth reference that the machine control system uses to hold the cut at the value the operator has set. Unlike most machine faults, a depth error cannot be corrected afterwards: once the drum has passed, the grade is fixed. A sensor that drifts by a few millimetres turns a single pass into an overlay or a second cut.
How Depth Sensors Fail in Service
- Wear at the reference contact. Continuous travel over milled surface grinds down the contact point, which shifts the zero point gradually.
- Bracket and arm damage. Impact during transport or on site bends the mounting arm, and the reading becomes offset rather than absent.
- Water and dust ingress. Milling spray and fine dust work past hardened seals and reach the internal electronics.
- Harness and connector faults. Vibration loosens connector pins, producing intermittent readings that look like sensor failure.
- Electrical noise. Transients on the machine supply degrade the signal over time and appear as stepped or frozen values.
Checking the bracket, reference arm and connector first is standard practice: these three items account for a significant share of complaints that are originally diagnosed as a failed sensor, and they cost nothing to rule out.

Symptoms That Point to Replacement
- Depth reading drifting during travel with no change to the reference surface.
- Stepped or jumping values instead of a smooth change as the machine moves.
- Reading dropping out over milled joints and patched areas.
- Zero point creeping, so the display no longer returns to calibrated zero.
- Intermittent depth-related fault codes that clear on their own.
Fitting and Calibration
- Isolate the electrical system before unplugging the sensor connector.
- Inspect connector pins and harness for corrosion, chafing or pulled wires.
- Mount on a clean, undamaged bracket face; contamination under the mount shifts the zero point.
- Confirm the reference arm moves freely through its full travel range without binding.
- Recalibrate the zero point after fitting and verify against a physical measurement before milling.
